Some problems that are easily overlooked in 3d printing
When we use 3D printer machine , we need build a 3D model firstly, when designing 3D printing model, especially for complex industrial or large size 3d model design, we always have some misunderstandings on it. therefore, we should pay attention to the following problems when using Large size 3d printer.
1. Ignoring filament peculiarity
Different Big size 3d printer filament have different nature, Some of them are easy broken , some strong, some malleable, some have rough surfaces, some have high density, some have low density, etc...This means at the beginning of the 3d printing model design, the first thing to think is what material will use. For example, if you want to print a 3d printing model with ceramic powder, then you need to consider the nature of the ceramic powder material , then consider the design of the 3d printing model ,For example, how to design the overhanging parts, corners ...The 3d FDM printer filament directly determines what principles the 3d model design should adhere to.
2. Ignore wall thickness
Until now, the main reason why many 3d model printing cannot be printed successfully is related to the wall thickness setting. If the wall thickness too thin, the small parts on the model cannot be printed, or fragile, easy broken.
3. Ignore STL file resolution
For 3D model printing, the most common file format is STL, this means your 3d printing model can be translated into multiple triangular facets in 3D space. most 3d model design software supports translate models to STL format and set it to the desired resolution.
Choosing the right file high resolution is important for print quality.
Low resolution STL format file: A low quality file output is never to printing a good model ,low resolution means triangles in STL files are too large, the surface of the 3d model is not smooth ,it will lead to some "Mosaic" printing .
Very high resolution STL format file:very high resolution will makes files too large, sometimes it's hard to operate ,it’s lead to many details of the model will not be well restored, this is why recommended that you try to keep STL files below 100MB.
4. Ignoring the rules of software use
Different software has different rules of use, for example, the wall thickness setting, in some software it is set automatically, and in some other software, you have to do this manually.
You need to do some preparation, depending on the different software, for example, whether the model is watertight, whether the wall thickness is appropriate, how about the printing size setting, etc.
These above rules maybe look like complicated, but once you have mastered them, you'll designing 3D printing model with facility.
